Solo 401(k) Setup & Maintenance Info

The Importance of Reviewing Your Specific Situation

You’ll see a list below of different parts that make up the Solo 401(k) we provide, but its important to keep in mind that an IRS compliant Solo 401(k), is more complex that just a stack of forms. It’s also important to ensure that your structure is not only set up correctly from the start, but set up in a way that is most advantageous to you from a tax-planning perspective, an estate planning perspective, and in such a way that you are able to maximize your contributions to the plan.

We try to spend a lot of time talking with clients about their situation before we proceed with a Solo 401(k). We do this, because of what I just said above – its important. And, its far easier to do things right the first time than to try to patch things up after the fact. The reason why I’m blathering on about this is to make sure to impress upon you not only the importance of ensuring you take the time at the beginning to get the most out of the various ways to set up the Solo 401(k), but also to make sure you understand that we are here to help you figure out the best way of doing things.

Maintenance Fees

All customized 401(k) plans that are specifically reviewed and approved by the IRS are proprietary, and ours are no different. Along with the licensing requirements, you’ll want to make sure your plan remains in compliance. As changes are made to the code each year, as contribution limits change, and as IRS & DOL letter rulings and advisory opinion letters refine retirement law, you’ll need to make sure your plan documents keep up with these changes.

Thankfully you won’t have to keep up on all those changes – we’ll do it for you.

Whenever there’s a change, or whenever your plan requires an amendment, we’ll do the work for you, and send you the forms so that all you have to do is sign.

Our charge for yearly licensing of the plan documents, and amendments is $200.

You can always call us with any questions you may have. Should you have a particularly complex transaction or tax question that we can’t help with, we’ll be happy to put you in touch with our attorney or CPA.
